~ABOUT~

I am a kindergarten teacher who has been in education for over 25 years. However, the surprise of our lives came with The COVID Crisis. We were forced to teach online via Zoom. Even with the struggles through trainings, teaching, and reteaching, I thought of my grandchildren.

Before COVID, I knew that I could visit my grandchildren during holidays and birthdays. However, this new way of life brought something that was never imagined. Staying inside, separated from family and friends, but most of all, not being able to see my grandchildren. I love them and would love to see them every day! What if I could see them every day or at least every week via Zoom? Why not? What was stopping me? Thus, Grandmother’s Corner was born!

Anticipating each weekly meeting, I prepare activities that we will do. My eleven grandchildren live in 4 states and miles apart. Sunday at 6:00, my grandchildren and I are together enjoying each other as well as cousins bonding. It is extremely important to keep the line of communication open during this time. Physical distance is understood, but social involvement is key. My daughter suggested I do this online. Even though this started for personal reasons, I realize there are others who would love to see their grandchildren. It helps to build communication and fosters relationship with grandparents and grandchildren. It is so much fun! My grandchildren look forward to it weekly.
